About the role
Role Summary
- Accurately code and bill for ambulance services provided to patients
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and insurance requirements
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and insurance companies
- 100% remote, full-time position with flexible hours (ideally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
Responsibilities
- Assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) for ambulance services, diagnoses, and procedures
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, or other payers
- Verify patient insurance information and eligibility
- Review patient medical records and transport documentation for coding and billing accuracy
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding queries
- Accurately enter patient and billing information into billing systems
- Assist patients and families with billing inquiries and resolve billing issues
- Make and receive client-related phone calls
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in Medicare Part B Ambulance medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
- MUST HAVE PROFICIENCY IN TRAUMASOFT
- Experience with Traumasoft billing software and EHR systems
- Previous experience in Medicare Part B Ambulance medical coding and billing
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
