About the role

Role Summary

  • Accurately code and bill for ambulance services provided to patients
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and insurance requirements
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and insurance companies
  • 100% remote, full-time position with flexible hours (ideally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Responsibilities

  • Assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) for ambulance services, diagnoses, and procedures
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, Medicaid, Medicare, or other payers
  • Verify patient insurance information and eligibility
  • Review patient medical records and transport documentation for coding and billing accuracy
  • Stay updated on healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding queries
  • Accurately enter patient and billing information into billing systems
  • Assist patients and families with billing inquiries and resolve billing issues
  • Make and receive client-related phone calls

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Medicare Part B Ambulance medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
  • MUST HAVE PROFICIENCY IN TRAUMASOFT
  • Experience with Traumasoft billing software and EHR systems
  • Previous experience in Medicare Part B Ambulance medical coding and billing
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
