This role of Associate Professor in Experimental CERN-related Physics requires advanced expertise in experimental particle physics, particularly related to research conducted at CERN. The candidate should possess a strong foundation in high-energy physics concepts and experimental techniques used in large-scale collider experiments such as those at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Key technical competencies include designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments involving particle detectors, data acquisition systems, and complex instrumentation. Proficiency in data analysis software and programming languages commonly used in physics research, such as C++, Python, and ROOT, is essential. Experience with simulation tools and statistical methods for interpreting experimental results is also important. The role demands familiarity with collaborative international research environments and the ability to contribute to and lead research projects within large scientific collaborations. A deep understanding of the physics goals and experimental challenges of CERN experiments, including detector technologies and particle identification methods, is critical. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong academic background, typically demonstrated by a PhD in physics or a closely related field, and a record of peer-reviewed publications in experimental high-energy physics. Teaching and mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, as well as securing research funding, are also integral parts of the position. Overall, this position requires a combination of advanced theoretical knowledge, practical experimental skills, programming and data analysis expertise, and academic leadership within the context of cutting-edge CERN physics research.
