This position demands strong leadership capabilities to expand and manage global research collaborations with clinical and academic institutions, while shaping the company's scientific vision and evidence strategy as it transitions from research to commercialization. The CSO must demonstrate commercial acumen, effectively bridging scientific excellence with business growth objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing regulatory affairs and compliance, contributing to commercialization through scientific marketing content, engaging with clients and partners, and supporting funding and grant applications. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are critical for collaboration across research, clinical, and industry stakeholders. The role requires a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset suitable for a dynamic startup environment focused on innovative mental health technologies, specifically Avatar Therapy delivered via Virtual Reality. The CSO will also lead the growth of scientific and regulatory teams, represent the company in scientific and commercial forums worldwide, and help bring cutting-edge therapeutic solutions to clinics globally. Role Summary

Responsibilities
- Expand and manage global research collaborations with clinical and academic institutions
- Lead the company’s scientific vision and evidence strategy as the company scales commercially
- Oversee regulatory affairs and compliance under MDR and related frameworks
- Contribute to commercialization efforts, including crafting scientific marketing content and participating in client and partner meetings
- Lead and support funding and grant applications with public and private partners
- Represent the company in scientific and commercial forums worldwide
- Collaborate closely with product, clinical, and commercial teams to align scientific credibility with market needs
- Build the scientific and regulatory team as the company grows
Requirements
- PhD or advanced degree in Psychology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, or related field, with clinical and/or research experience in severe mental illness (SMI)
- Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder research projects (public or private funding)
- Understanding of clinical research ecosystems and regulatory pathways (experience with MDR a plus)
- Commercially minded, able to connect scientific excellence with business growth
- Strong communicator and relationship builder across research, clinical, and industry settings
- Positive, proactive, and entrepreneurial mindset in a dynamic startup environment
