About the role
Role Summary
- Long-term energy adviser stationed in Nairobi with Kenya’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MOEP)
- Support the development of national power sector and energy plans
- Share Danish best practices in power sector modelling and energy planning
- Collaborate with Kenyan government partners and Danish institutions (DEA, RDE)
Responsibilities
- Build capacity for the teams developing the Least Cost Power Development Plan (LCPDP) and Integrated National Energy Plan (INEP)
- Provide hands-on training in energy modelling, scenario development, and analysis
- Assist in formulating policy recommendations for decision-makers
- Manage projects and coordinate with local partners
- Foster cross-cultural collaboration between Kenyan and Danish energy experts
Requirements
- Advanced technical or economic degree at the master's level
- Proven experience with energy system modelling tools (e.g., Balmorel, TIMES, PLEXOS, OseMOSYS)
- In-depth knowledge of the Danish energy sector and its evolution (required)
- At least 5 years of experience in the Danish energy sector (required)
- Strong analytical skills for complex energy systems
