The position demands physical capability for safe lifting and transfers, highlighting the need for strength and proper technique. A valid driver's license (category B) is mandatory due to significant driving responsibilities. Flexibility is essential to accommodate illness and additional shifts, ensuring reliability in a long-term employment relationship. Effective communication skills and clear expectation management are critical, as the client acts as the direct supervisor under a BPA arrangement. The work environment includes weekend stays at a rural home with private rest facilities and interaction with a pet cat, requiring adaptability and respect for the client’s personal space and preferences. The role is governed by FOA collective agreements, with employment and payroll managed by DUOS.
