The ideal candidate holds a master's degree or equivalent in energy/environmental management, economics, political science, engineering, or related fields, combined with at least five years of experience in the Danish energy sector. Key competencies include deep knowledge of energy and climate policy development, renewable energy regulation, and political processes, especially in international or Danish contexts. The advisor must be proficient in strengthening analytical frameworks and regulatory implementation for renewable energy technologies, including offshore wind, and possess the ability to support data foundation improvements for energy system modelling. Experience in advising on power system flexibility, demand response, and integration of renewables is essential. Strong project and programme management skills are required to coordinate technical assistance, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement across local and international partners. Fluency in English is mandatory for effective communication and collaboration. The role emphasizes building trust-based cooperation between Danish and Vietnamese institutions and contributing to Vietnam's net-zero transition by 2050. Candidates should demonstrate proven ability to manage complex technical projects, deliver policy advice, and foster multi-stakeholder networks involving government, civil society, and private sectors. About the role
Role Summary
- Stationed in Hanoi at Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT)
- Support Vietnam’s transition to a net-zero society by 2050
- Provide technical advice and capacity building in long-term energy planning and renewable energy integration
- Strengthen analytical frameworks and regulatory implementation for renewable energy, including offshore wind
- Ensure programme is well integrated within partner institutions
Responsibilities
- Deliver technical long-term energy planning and modelling
- Strengthen data foundation for energy system modelling
- Support implementation of regulatory frameworks for renewable energy
- Advise on integration of renewables into the power system, focusing on flexibility and demand response
- Build trust-based cooperation between Danish and Vietnamese partners
- Manage projects and coordinate with local and international stakeholders
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent in energy/environmental management, economics, political science, engineering, or related fields
- Solid knowledge and experience in energy and climate policy development (Danish/international context)
- Experience in renewable energy regulation and political processes
- Proven management skills in technical assistance, programme management, and technical secondments
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Danish energy sector (experience with Vietnam is an advantage)
