PhD in the analysis of the acid-base and electrolyte properties of blood in relation to pre-analytical errors
Role highlights
Full Time
Permanent
Intern
On-site
This PhD position focuses on the analysis of acid-base and electrolyte properties of blood, particularly addressing pre-analytical errors affecting blood measurements such as those from blood gas analyzers. The role requires strong expertise in mathematical modeling and experimental data collection related to blood chemistry changes caused by pre-analytical factors. Candidates should have a master's degree with a background in mathematics, engineering, or preferably biomedical engineering; medical degree holders with demonstrated mathematical modeling skills are also considered. The position involves conducting experimental work in international laboratories and collaborating within an international research group to apply mathematical models in clinical settings. There is potential to develop digital software solutions aimed at identifying and compensating for measurement errors. The role demands proficiency in experimental biomedical research, mathematical and computational modeling, and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly between biomedical science and engineering domains. Eligibility for enrollment in the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology is required. The candidate should be prepared to engage in research that combines clinical problem-solving with quantitative analysis and software development, contributing to advancements in respiratory and critical care diagnostics. This opportunity is situated within a research-intensive university environment that values diversity and international cooperation.
