This Postdoctoral Researcher position in Physical Chemistry requires advanced expertise in theoretical and physical chemistry, with a strong focus on atmospheric chemistry related to gas-phase reaction kinetics. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline, demonstrating independent research experience. Core competencies include proficiency in first-principle computational methods such as coupled-cluster and multi-reference configuration interaction techniques, alongside kinetic modeling approaches like multi-conformer and variational transition state theory. Expertise in quantum chemistry software packages including Molpro, Orca, and Gaussian is essential. Familiarity with chemical kinetics and dynamics is required, as well as competency in Bash or Shell scripting for computational workflows. The role involves predicting reaction mechanisms and novel compounds, particularly amines and related species relevant to carbon capture and storage emissions, using advanced computational methodologies. Collaboration with experimental and modeling research groups is a key aspect, necessitating strong interdisciplinary communication skills. Additional advantages include knowledge of experimental techniques in atmospheric amine chemistry. Responsibilities extend to teaching and co-supervising PhD, MSc, and BSc students, indicating mentoring capabilities. The position offers access to high-performance computational facilities within a dynamic international academic environment. Overall, the ideal candidate combines deep theoretical chemistry knowledge, practical computational skills, and collaborative research experience in atmospheric and physical chemistry contexts.
