The candidate should possess an advanced university degree, preferably a Master’s, in social sciences or a related field, although equivalent experience with a first-level degree is acceptable. Expertise in managing projects within the human rights sector, particularly in Eastern Europe (Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia), is essential. The candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of international human rights frameworks and contextual understanding of Eastern European human rights issues. Experience working with Danish public administration systems and National Human Rights Institutions in Eastern Europe is critical. Responsibilities include managing project portfolios, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, logistical and administrative coordination, and drafting key documents such as MoUs and contracts. The role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain partnerships with donors, international and regional organizations, civil society, and private sector stakeholders. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Personal attributes sought include a positive, dynamic personality, team orientation, organizational skills, flexibility, independence, and adherence to procedures and deadlines. Some travel within the region is expected. The position is based in Copenhagen and involves working under Danish labor laws. Overall, the ideal candidate combines strong project management capabilities with deep regional expertise, human rights knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments effectively.
About the role
Role Summary
- Full-time project manager based in Copenhagen
- Support management and implementation of new activities in Eastern Europe (Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia)
- Work for the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Denmark's National Human Rights Institution
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of projects according to Institute procedures, including budgeting and monitoring
- Contribute to work plans, annual narrative and financial reports, and project monitoring and evaluation
- Plan and execute project activities, including logistical and administrative coordination
- Handle project administration tasks (drafting MoUs, contracts, terms of reference, etc.)
- Ensure coordination and communication with partners and stakeholders in Eastern Europe
- Build relationships to support project implementation
- Some travel required
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in social sciences or related field
- First-level university degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted instead of advanced degree
- At least 5 years of experience in project management/administration, stakeholder engagement, and project implementation, including financial management
- Experience liaising with donors, international/regional organisations, national human rights institutions, civil society, private sector, etc.
- Knowledge of international human rights framework and experience with human rights issues
- Relevant professional country experience and human rights contextual knowledge of Eastern Europe
- In-depth work experience with Danish public administration systems and processes
- In-depth work experience with National Human Rights Institutions in Eastern Europe
- Fluency in spoken and written English

Benefits
- Duty station: Copenhagen
- Full-time position (37 hours/week) under Danish law and staff guidelines
- Salary according to Danish Ministry of Finance agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations; possibility to negotiate a qualification supplement
- Expected starting date: 1 January 2026
