The Research Scientist role at the Center for Vaccine Research, Statens Serum Institut, requires a highly qualified candidate with a PhD in pharmacy or a related field and at least four years of relevant research experience. The core expertise centers on vaccine adjuvant research, including the design, development, and characterization of novel adjuvants such as liposomes, emulsions, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and other particle structures. The candidate must demonstrate strong immunological knowledge applied to adjuvant research and be proficient in conducting and interpreting immunological assays, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and in vivo imaging system (IVIS) techniques. Experience in planning and executing animal experiments, including sample preparation, is essential, along with holding relevant animal experiment permits (e.g., FELASA C). The role involves independent project leadership, supervision and mentoring of PhD and Master’s students, and collaboration with internal and external partners. Additionally, responsibility for managing laboratory equipment and maintaining the adjuvant formulation lab is expected. The position offers opportunities to pursue innovative research topics within vaccine development against diseases such as Tuberculosis, Chlamydia, and Influenza, contributing to publications and patent applications. Strong communication and teamwork skills are critical for success in this collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The role is embedded in a well-funded, internationally connected research setting, offering flexible working conditions and the chance to impact public health through vaccine innovation.
