This position is ideal for university students pursuing bachelor's level studies in economics, social data science, data-economics, or public health, with a strong interest in quantitative data analysis. Candidates will gain hands-on experience in empirical social science research by engaging in preliminary data analysis, literature reviews, and supporting the organization of academic events such as workshops and conferences. The role emphasizes working with large datasets and applying theoretical and applied micro- and macroeconomic concepts, particularly in health economics and aging. Students will contribute to projects addressing population frailty in macroeconomic models, elder care demand and supply, physician career determinants, and health inequality networks. The role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple research-related tasks in a collaborative academic environment. This internship offers practical exposure to data handling, empirical methods, and research project management within a multidisciplinary team, providing valuable skills for future careers in economics or social sciences research. About the role
- Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is hiring 3-5 student research assistants for the Health Economics and Aging Lab (HEAL)
- 1-year positions, 10-15 hours per week, with possible extension
- Expected start: February 1st, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter
About HEAL
- Research team focused on theoretical and applied micro- and macroeconomics
- Four main projects:
- Incorporating Population Frailty in Macroeconomic Policy Models (with DREAM, funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation)
- Determinants of Demand and Supply of Elder Care (NordForsk, Nordic network)
- The Role of Preferences and Beliefs in Shaping Physician Careers (Independent Research Fund Denmark)
- The Role of Networks in Shaping Health Inequality (Rockwool Foundation)
- Tasks include data analysis, literature reviews, and practical support for events
Responsibilities
- Prepare and conduct preliminary data analysis
- Support literature reviews
- Assist with practical tasks (e.g., organizing workshops, conferences, stakeholder meetings)
- Contribute to the day-to-day running of research projects
Requirements
- Enrolled as a student at university level
- Studying economics, social data science, data-economics (datalogi-økonomi), or public health
- Strong interest in quantitative data
