Role Summary

Responsibilities
Patient Advocacy Excellence
- Analyse and anticipate trends and challenges in the patient advocacy landscape
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues in strategic markets worldwide
- Represent the company in international forums, conferences, and roundtables with patient advocacy groups
Advocacy Partnership Development
- Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with key patient organisations and advocates
- Define and develop advocacy strategies aligned with business unit goals
- Lead and co-create advocacy initiatives with patient groups and communities (e.g., care pathway improvements, access to innovative medicines)
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of advocacy efforts on patient outcomes and company reputation
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in public affairs, patient advocacy, or medical affairs within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry (in-house or consultancy)
- Demonstrated experience building and sustaining partnerships with patient advocacy groups across diverse therapeutic areas and geographies
- Ability to assess and articulate business and reputational impact of patient advocacy
- Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Proven strategic thinking and ability to translate complex information into actionable plans
- High degree of empathy, integrity, and patient-centricity
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements and ethical guidelines for pharmaceutical-patient group interactions
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-paced global matrix environment
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus

- The Patient Experience and Advocacy department is part of Global Medical Affairs
- Oversees patient centricity, external advocacy, and embedding patient strategies across the value chain
- Remit includes Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs), patient preference studies, regulatory engagement, and strategic partnerships with patient communities
- Designs and executes advocacy programmes in partnership with disease communities, supporting policy change and care pathway improvements
