Teaching responsibilities include physics courses with a reduced load and supervising students across physics and related fields. Role Summary
- Tenure track Fellow (Assistant Professor level) position in Biophysics or a closely related discipline
- Joint appointment at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) and the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy (FKF), University of Southern Denmark (SDU)
- Start date: 01.08.2026 or as soon as possible thereafter
- Focus on research excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration
Existing Research Areas
- Strong research groups in biophysics and soft condensed matter within the PhyLife cluster
- Research topics: physical principles of biological phenomena, behavior of biological materials, biomembranes, polymers, liquid crystals, membrane proteins, bioimaging, image analysis, statistical physics
- Interdisciplinary approach combining physics, chemistry, and molecular biology
- State-of-the-art experimental facilities for cell culture, imaging, and microfabrication
Responsibilities
- Establish a competitive research activity in Biophysics
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations
- Obtain external funding for independent and collaborative research
- Teach physics courses (reduced teaching load)
- Supervise physics students and potentially students in related disciplines
- Participate in outreach activities in physics
- Contribute to departmental organizational activities and strategy development
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in Biophysics or a relevant field
- Curiosity-driven research excellence and broad thinking
- Fluency in English
- Potential for attracting external research funding (experience and international network are advantages)
- Strong publication record
