Key skills

The Engineering Manager role requires a strong foundation in software engineering with at least 5 years of experience and a minimum of 2 years in a management capacity. Candidates should have a proven ability to lead and empower engineering teams, particularly in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. Key skills include full stack software development background, hands-on coding capabilities such as code reviews and prototyping, and experience managing technical debt, architecture, and quality standards. The role demands excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, feedback delivery, performance management, and fostering psychological safety within diverse, international, and partially remote teams. Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential, especially in working closely with Product Managers and Designers in a product trio setup to align engineering efforts with customer value and business impact. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices is advantageous, as is domain knowledge in fintech or accounting. The manager will be responsible for establishing efficient processes, reducing inefficiencies, adapting to changing priorities, and representing the engineering team across organizational stakeholders. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Experience working with remote and diverse teams is a plus. Overall, the candidate should demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset to scale, stabilize, and deliver impactful invoicing solutions for small and medium businesses across Europe.
