The Head of Finance role requires comprehensive expertise in accounting, controlling, and financial reporting, with a strong emphasis on both operational execution and strategic financial leadership. The ideal candidate will have solid experience managing monthly closings, annual accounts, and delivering ongoing financial reporting to management and the board. Key competencies include cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and developing scalable financial processes and systems such as invoicing, subscription management, project economics, and contract follow-up. The role demands a structured, self-driven, and detail-oriented professional capable of working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Experience in SaaS, scale-ups, or project-driven businesses is advantageous, underscoring the need for a strong business acumen and the ability to act as a sparring partner to the CEO and board on financing, growth strategies, and commercial decisions. The candidate should be adept at coordinating with auditors and external financial partners, supporting fundraising efforts, and enhancing pricing models across hardware, software, and services. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, with German language skills considered a plus. This leadership position offers the opportunity to build and develop a finance team and potentially advance into a CFO role. A bachelor’s degree and significant leadership experience in finance functions are expected, reflecting a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ambition within an international, technology-driven company.
About the role
Claviate is a rapidly growing tech company developing AI-based solutions for offshore and onshore construction projects in the wind industry. Our technology is already in operation with several of the world’s largest developers and manufacturers, and we are now entering a scaling phase with significant international demand.
To support this growth, we are looking for a Head of Finance who can take full ownership of the finance function and ensure that our financial structure evolves in line with the company’s development.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of monthly closing, annual accounts, and ongoing reporting to management and the board
- Develop and professionalize the finance function as we scale
- Cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Sparring partner to the CEO and board on financing, growth plans, and commercial decisions
- Set up and optimize processes and systems (including invoicing, subscriptions, project economics, and contract follow-up)
- Coordinate with auditors and external financial partners
- Support fundraising processes and investor reporting
- Further development of pricing models across hardware, software, and services
- Opportunity to build a finance team as the company grows
Requirements
- Solid experience in accounting, controlling, and financial reporting
- Comfortable working both operationally and strategically
- Structured, self-driven, and detail-oriented
- Experience from SaaS, scale-ups, or project-driven businesses is an advantage
- Strong business understanding and desire to be close to key decisions
- Comfortable with responsibility and creating clarity in a high-growth, fast-changing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- German skills are an advantage, but not a requirement
