Role Summary
- The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences seeks a Head of Graduate Programme in Surgical Sciences
- The PhD programme at SUND is organized in thematic and scientifically specialized graduate programmes
- All enrolled PhD students are affiliated with a graduate programme at enrolment
Responsibilities
- Ensure the graduate programme offers three mandatory activities:
- Onboarding for new PhD students shortly after enrolment (e-mail/meeting)
- Annual meeting/summer school/winter school for PhD students (and preferably supervisors)
- Network activity (workshop/talk/network and academic-social activity)
- Offer relevant scientific PhD courses and courses/workshops in transferrable skills and career activities
- Collaborate with the steering committee to encourage PhD supervisors to organize courses and coordinate activities
- Inform PhD students about funding opportunities for courses and application procedures from the Graduate School
- Strive to ensure PhD students can complete up to 10 ECTS at courses offered by the graduate programme
- Decide which courses are mandatory and inform PhD students
- Initiate measures to develop and improve the academic and social environment for PhD students (e.g., seminars, workshops, journal clubs)
- Collaborate with the Graduate School on communication regarding internal and external academic activities
- Participate in meetings and seminars with the Graduate School for further development of graduate programmes
- Advise the Vice-Dean for Research and the Head of Graduate School on PhD education as part of a committee
- Participate in onboarding and introduction of new Heads of Graduate Programmes

- Establish cooperation with other graduate programmes at the faculty for synergy
- Establish cooperation and networks with graduate programmes at other universities
- Further internationalization by increasing international cooperation and exchange of PhD students
Requirements
- Researcher with substantial knowledge within the area of the programme
- Must be a clinical Professor at University of Copenhagen
- Experience and insight into PhD education
Terms of Employment
- Employment in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC)
- Position as chief consultant (Chefkonsulent/AC-TAP) at 3.5 hours per week
- Employment starts as soon as possible and continues until further notice
