About the role

  • Support the Human Rights, Africa Department, including the Department Director, advisers, and project managers
  • Contribute to projects with a focus on West Africa (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Ivory Coast, Benin, Ghana) and Ethiopia
  • Work involves human rights and security, supporting state actors, ministries, security forces, civil society, and National Human Rights Institutions
  • Assist both headquarters and local offices across Africa

Responsibilities

  • Assist department director, senior advisers, project managers, and local offices (West Africa and Ethiopia) in daily project tasks
  • Translate and proofread French-English-French, both spoken and written
  • Consolidate annual and final reports for donors
  • Work with MEAL tools to highlight project results (DIHR’s monitoring tool)
  • Assist with planning and execution of visits and meetings
  • Assist with document filing and communication tasks, such as updating website pages
  • Develop and maintain systems for collaborating with national offices
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university programme (sociology, political science, law, or related fields) with at least one year left of study
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English (spoken and written); language skills will be tested
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Well organised and structured

Nice to Have

Benefits

  • Salary according to the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark
  • 15 hours per week, two days a week on average
  • Start date: 2 February 2026
