The position of Student UAS Technician at the SDU UAS Center requires practical technical skills and a strong interest in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology. Candidates should be enrolled students at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), preferably within technical fields such as robotics, electronics, software, or mechanical engineering. Key competencies include drone building, maintenance, and repair, encompassing both electronic and mechanical assemblies. Candidates will support engineers and lab managers with technical tasks, including light programming and data management related to UAS operations, such as organizing and uploading imagery and other collected data. Workshop skills like soldering, mechanical assembly, and rapid prototyping are advantageous, alongside good IT and programming abilities. The role demands strong teamwork, dependability, flexibility, and a mature approach to safety, especially given the safety-critical nature of drone systems. Additional desirable attributes include good hand-eye coordination, passion for robotics and drone technology, and a valid driver's license (category B). Responsibilities extend to maintaining lab facilities and equipment, assisting in educational and outreach events, and contributing to technical documentation, manuals, and risk assessments. This role offers hands-on experience in UAS operations within a vibrant, innovative environment at SDU’s Campus Odense and the Drone Test Center at HCA Airport, providing valuable exposure to cutting-edge drone technology and collaborative project work.

Responsibilities
- Drone building and maintenance
- Assist lab manager and engineers with technical tasks
- Light programming
- Electronic and mechanical assemblies
- Maintain UAS center lab facilities, drones, and equipment
- Data management (upload and organize photos and other UAS-collected data)
- Support events and outreach activities
- Support education activities
- Contribute to technical documentation, manuals, and risk assessments
Requirements
- Enrolled as a student at SDU
- Mature, strong teamworking skills
- Basic understanding and curiosity to learn new tasks and skills
- Valid driver’s license (B)
Nice to Have
- Technical student, preferably in robotics, electronics, software, or mechanical engineering at SDU Technical Faculty in Odense
- Experience with drones, radio-controlled vehicles, robotics, or mechatronics
- Workshop skills (soldering, mechanical assembly, rapid prototyping)
- Good IT skills and programming experience
- Dependability, flexibility, and teamwork
- Strong safety awareness (working with safety-critical systems)
- Good hand/eye coordination
- Passion for robots and drone technology
