Key skills

This role requires a qualified Early Years Educator or Pedagogue with a formal degree or certification in Early Childhood Education or Pedagogy. Candidates should have experience working with children aged 3 to 5 years, ideally within an international or IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) context. The position emphasizes a collaborative, inquiry-driven, and play-based teaching approach aligned with the IB philosophy, promoting student agency, international-mindedness, and inquiry-based learning. Familiarity with or willingness to learn the Danish Børnehave Læreplan is important. Key competencies include planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities, facilitating small group engagements, and providing individualized support based on observation of children's developmental, emotional, and learning needs. The educator must be skilled in preparing learning environments and materials, supervising children during various daily routines and transitions, and supporting self-care practices such as toileting and handwashing. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for working effectively within a culturally diverse and collaborative team. The role demands a reflective and growth-oriented mindset, openness to feedback, and commitment to continuous professional development. Fluency in English is required, with Danish language skills considered an advantage. The educator should foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages independence and social-emotional learning, empowering children’s voice and agency through exploration. Flexibility, dependability, and a proactive attitude are also critical to succeed in this temporary position within a research-informed early years program.
