Key skills

The Electrical Superintendent role requires extensive expertise in electrical systems within industrial and mining environments, supported by 15+ years of hands-on experience maintaining production equipment. Candidates must hold a recognized qualification such as Red Seal Electrician certification, Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology credentials. The position demands proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical infrastructure and fixed plant equipment, including performing routine maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments. Strong diagnostic skills are essential for inspecting, testing, and identifying faults to ensure operational reliability and safety compliance. The role involves conducting thorough inspections aligned with safety standards and manufacturer specifications, documenting findings, and generating detailed reports for breakdowns and corrective actions. Working independently with minimal supervision in challenging underground mine conditions—such as temperature fluctuations, dampness, confined spaces, and low-light environments—is critical. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and innovation, contributing solutions to improve processes and equipment performance. Effective teamwork and communication skills are vital for thriving in a multidisciplinary project team, alongside the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, equipment-intensive settings. Familiarity with construction and mining site operations enhances suitability. Preferred additional qualifications include First Aid and fall protection training to support workplace safety. The role involves remote work in harsh northern climates with extended shifts and rotational schedules, requiring resilience and commitment to safety and quality standards.
