Key technical competencies include measuring, cutting, threading, bending, and welding pipes using hand and power tools and welding equipment. The role demands strong knowledge of piping materials, codes, and standards, as well as the ability to conduct pressure and leak testing, system inspections, and diagnose faults for corrective maintenance. Experience working independently with minimal supervision in remote, harsh environments such as northern climates and mine sites is essential, along with the ability to work safely in confined spaces and outdoor conditions. The candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades within a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with workplace safety policies, compliance legislation, and safety programs is critical, with First Aid and fall protection training considered assets. The position involves extended work schedules with possible weekend shifts and requires completing detailed daily reports and documentation. Overall, the role demands a highly skilled, safety-conscious pipefitter with leadership capabilities, adaptability to remote site conditions, and a strong work ethic.

- Position: Pipefitter, Red Seal
- Location: Nanortalik, Southern Greenland (Nalunaq Mine Site)
- Work for Pennecon, a provider of integrated solutions in heavy civil, industrial, services & maintenance, and marine industries
- Support company safety, quality, and environmental programs on-site
Responsibilities
- Perform duties independently with minimal supervision
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems, valves, fittings, and related components
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes using hand and power tools and welding equipment
- Install piping systems for water, slurry, compressed air, fuel, hydraulic, and process systems
- Conduct pressure testing, leak testing, and system inspections
- Diagnose system faults and perform corrective maintenance
- Complete daily work reports, inspections, and documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance legislation
- Demonstrate good work ethic, positive attitude, and teamwork
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Red Seal Pipefitter certification
- Familiarity with construction and mining environments
- 5+ years of experience installing and maintaining industrial piping systems
- Experience on large-scale industrial or mine construction projects
- Ability to work in a remote mine environment (temperature fluctuations, confined spaces, outdoor work)
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, codes, and standards
- Proficient with trade-specific tools and equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment
- Able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment near equipment and personnel
