Responsibilities
- Perform duties independently with minimal supervision
- Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Erect, install, align, and secure structural steel, metal frameworks, and components
- Install reinforcing steel (rebar), wire mesh, and related materials
- Perform rigging, hoisting, and positioning of steel components using cranes and lifting equipment
- Bolt, weld, cut, and fasten metal components using appropriate tools and equipment
- Inspect completed work for compliance with specifications and safety standards
- Assist with layout, measuring, and preparation of work areas
- Complete daily work reports and required documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to meet construction schedules
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance legislation
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work in a team environment
Requirements
- Red Seal Ironworker certification
- Familiarity with construction and mining environments
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel erection and reinforcing work
- Experience on large-scale industrial or mine construction projects
- Ability to work in a remote mine environment (outdoor work, varying weather, heights, physically demanding conditions)
- Strong knowledge of structural steel installation methods, tools, and safety procedures
- Experience with rigging, hoisting, and working at heights
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment
- Able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment near equipment and personnel
