Experienced mechanic specializing in maintenance and repair of heavy and light mobile equipment within gold mining operations. Holds trade certification as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician, with preference for Red Seal qualification. Demonstrates 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment maintenance environments. Skilled in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on haul trucks, loaders, excavators, graders, drills, and support vehicles. Proficient in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults, with the ability to read and interpret complex hydraulic and electrical schematics. Experienced in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for logging work orders and maintaining accurate maintenance records. Capable of fabricating and modifying parts through welding, cutting, and machining to support equipment reliability. Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, with familiarity in mine safety regulations and safety management systems. Holds a valid driver’s license and may possess underground mining certification or relevant experience. Demonstrates excellent communication and reporting skills, able to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to minimize equipment downtime. Physically fit to operate in challenging conditions including exposure to noise, dust, and extreme temperatures, often working shifts including nights and weekends. Maintains workshop cleanliness, tool security, and workplace safety, ensuring maximum equipment availability and operational reliability in a demanding mining environment.

Role Summary
- Join the team at Nalunaq Mine, a leading gold mining operation
- Responsible for inspection, maintenance, and repair of light/heavy mobile equipment and machinery
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on mobile and fixed plant equipment (haul trucks, loaders, excavators, graders, drills, support vehicles)
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues; perform repairs efficiently
- Conduct pre-start checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance
- Work with maintenance planning team for accurate record-keeping and timely work order completion
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures in compliance with mine regulations
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, tool security, and workplace safety
- Use computerized maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS) to log jobs and update records
- Fabricate and modify parts/equipment as needed (welding, cutting, machining)
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and departments to minimize downtime
Requirements
- Trade Certification as Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, or equivalent (Red Seal preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment maintenance
- Experience with CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Sandvik, or similar mining equipment highly desirable
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Valid driver’s license
- Underground mining certification or experience (if applicable)
- Familiarity with safety management systems and mine health and safety standards
